Moonriver Antiques

Overview

Hello!! Welcome to Moonriver! I recently opened a shop at 7 Erie Ave in Narrowsburg, New York that specializes in well-designed, colorful & uplifting home decor. The store is an expansion of Moonriver Inn, my first small business in Narrowsburg that I opened in 2018.

Moonriver offers a mix of antiques, vintage and new home decor items that will add character and charm to any space.

I love helping create interiors that are whimsical, inspiring, & sustainably furnished. There’s rarely a need to buy new furnishings for your home when there are 100s of years worth of beautiful things out there! Shopping sustainably helps reduce your carbon footprint & strain on environmental resources.

Finding the right item takes a lot of time and effort, and I love doing it! Antiques (over 100 years old) and vintage (usually over 25 years old) items are often better made & more expressive of your unique taste than mass-produced furniture & other items made today.

Living spaces create your general quality of life, and what you surround yourself with directly effects your outlook - in other words, all these objects matter!

Beautiful designs don’t have to cost exhorbitant amounts & I work hard to pass along rare deals to my customers. Hope all this comes through in my store - and hope you love it too!!

Inventory

  • The collection reflects my love of well-made, colorful, whimsical & nostaligic items from other eras & from around the world.

  • The store has a large selection of table top items: dishware, vases, pottery, cookware, planters, colorful tins & trays, figurines, dresser top & trinket boxes, and unique lamps. Some of the companies & types of items I specialize in include Fiestaware, English blue & white straffordshire, blue flow, willoware, pearlware, pink & amber depression glass, anchor hocking bubble glass,Toleware, American art pottery like Roseville and Rookwood, as well as Stangl, Hull, and McCoy. You’ll also find many chinese and japanese cloisonne and Nippon.

  • You’ll also find Mid Century Modern, Art Deco & Victorian furniture including chairs, sofas, tables and lamps.

  • I’ve collected art work consistently over the years, and have a variety of art pieces to check out too!

  • Since I opened the Inn in 2018 until now (2024) I was decorating both a NYC apartment, the Inn property upstate AND we added another household worth of items to the home furnishings ‘pool’ when my mom moved out from California to live here in the Catskills in 2022.

  • The inventory keeps growing and new items are added weekly, so check back often & hope to see you soon!

    Store Space

  • A little under 1000 sf, the space was last publicly active as a first grade classroom before the school closed in 2001. The space has huge windows that are practically floor to ceiling and so the space feels light & bright in contrast to many antique stores in the Northeast that are in 1800s period buildings (which I also love!)

  • Located In the Narrowsburg Union, which was built in 1929 - so not new by any means - the space may allow you to get a feel for how certain items may look in your own home. Often unless you happen to have a 19th century manor, antiques are hard to visual in a more newly built space - so what I first thought as a downside is actually one of the many things I love about the store! It’s bright, ‘modern' and I spend a lot of time (maybe too much) working on displaying the items to set them off in arrangements that can work in any location.

  • The entrance opens onto the old school’s parking area so it’s easy to transport your haul :-). The retail shops are setback off of Erie Avenue which is one block up from Main Street in Narrowsburg. The store space is adjacent to a field where the Narrowsburg Farmers Market is held Saturdays - May thru October. In addition to easy parking, the Narrowsburg Union has both U-Hauls available to rent as well as a top of the line shipping facility so if you’re visiting and can’t easily transport it home yourself - shipping is easily arranged! And nothing is too big, I recently saw them custom build a wooden shipping container to ship large-format art to Europe.
